Y’all heard that Kirk Franklin song, “I smile, even though God is working, I smile”? Well, today that’s exactly how I’m feeling, blessed and full of gratitude! My doctor gave me clearance to drive (with a reminder to keep it short distances for now). The freedom of being able to get behind the wheel again felt so good. I got dressed, put on some makeup, and decided to take a little drive. Y’all should’ve seen how fast I was ready to zoom out the door lol, just kidding! I definitely took my time. My pain level has decreased so much compared to those first few days. I still experience some minor cramps here and there, but overall I can feel my body getting stronger each day. Those little improvements remind me that healing is truly happening.

I had my trusty seatbelt pillow that my mom got me so the belt wouldn’t rub against my incisions. That small act of love and thoughtfulness meant so much, and it reminded me just how blessed I am to have her by my side. I love you, Mommy! Today I am full of gratefulness for healing, for progress, and for the people God has placed in my life to make this journey lighter. I may still be recovering, but I’m smiling through it all.
